After high-profile concerts in Denmark, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany and Austria, the European Jazz Orchestra 2010 (short EJO 2010) arrived in Slovenia. The orchestra, which was conducted by the distinguished Slovenian conductor and composer Tadej Tomšič, concluded their one-month European tour with two concerts in Slovenia: first in Cankarjev dom, the cultural and congress centre in Ljubljana, and the other in Cultural Centre in Nova Gorica.
As soloists, all members of the EJO 2010 were presented. They come from 17 different European countries. The program consisted of works of Peter Herbolzheimer, Jože Privšek and Tadej Tomšič, both concerts deserved rounds of applause. The highlight of the evening was a performance of young and promising jazz singer Nina Strnad, who comes from the class of Nada Žgur. Her musical education will be continued this autumn in the USA with the famous singing teacher Nancy Marano.
The performance of excellent young musicians was a pleasant variegation in the Slovenian jazz scene.
