New guides for patients with lymphoma and leukaemia

The Slovenian lymphoma and leukaemia patient association has published two new guides for patients with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and chronic mieloic leukaemia: Guide for Patients with Mielodysplastic syndrome (MDS) and Guide for Patients with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia (CLL). By the end of this year, a new drug for the treatment of chronic lymphocytic leukaemia bendamustin (levact®) will be also available in Slovenia.

Bendamustin (levact®) is a new drug for treating CLL, that will be introduced by the pharmaceutical company Medis at the end of the year. With benadamustin, patients suffering from the incurable disease CLL, will have a new treatment option available. The advantage of bendamustin over currently available drug products is, that it combines characteristics of two of the most used cytostatics for the treatment of CLL. Due to its dual mechanism of action bendamustin is effective also when other therapies fail to work.

The publishing of the Guide for Patients with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia was sponsored by several pharmaceutical companies, including the pharmaceutical company Medis, d.o.o.
