Medis wins prestigious Gold Quill Award for excellence in business communication for the Idejnica project.

Medis Wins the international Gold Quill Award for Idejnica, a web application for brainstorming and management of employee’s ideas


Medis is a winner of the prestigious Gold Quill Award for excellence in communication for the Idejnica project. Gold Quill Awards are presented annually by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). Idejnica was awarded the Gold Quill in the Social Media category, a part of the Strategic Communication category. Beside the international award the project also received a regional EMERald award (Europe, Middle East).

Idejnica is one of Medis' innovations for a more extensive engagement of associates in positive changes of work processes. According to managing director Tone Strnad, Medis believes that the improvement of work processes and products/services is the only strategy that can step up the company’s activity and that every team member can and should play a part in this task: 

»Through this project we enabled each associate to utilize his/her own knowledge and creativity  in generating ideas, commenting on them and implementing them and to co-shape the future of the company on a daily basis. The added value of Idejnica is hidden primarily in the simplification of the process of generating ideas and managing them which involves all employees, in the objective evaluation of ideas, and in creating a relaxed attitude towards contribution of ideas.  All this promotes an outstanding atmosphere of innovation in the company. The prerequisite for such a project to succeed is of course the dedication and commitment of the change management.«

Alongside creating a large pool of ideas for further business growth, Idejnica has also become a popular daily tool for employee internal communications on this topic. Supporting the culture of cooperation and exchange of knowledge, opinions and ideas among the associates was one of the most important objectives of the project. When gathering ideas, Medis is especially highlighting the importance of all collected ideas, especially small ones, which through appropriate adaptation can become grand or even ground breaking. Namely, when not used directly, they are forgotten or used by a limited number of employees, therefore it is important that they are written down and are seen and commented on by as many associates as possible.

At Medis they are especially pleased to receive the award, as this confirms that it is possible to achieve creative and business breakthroughs with non-conventional projects. Much of time and energy has been invested in the project, therefore this award represents a satisfying conclusion and recognition for the project team and at the same time an incentive for the future. Idejnica will soon be modified for mobile access as well, also for those associates who are on business trips or working out of the office.

Medis is willing to offer Idejnica together with the knowledge and gained experience in the field of idea management also to other companies or organisations. Its use of course presupposes the understanding of the company’s management for the importance of innovation and ideas from employees which in many cases may be stated as a valued principal but only in theory and it is for this very reason an opportunity for change.
